Is your hair starting to thin? to find yourself asking questions like, Whats the best way to cut thinning hair? what are the best styling products for thinning hair? how do I prevent looking like I have a comb over? My hair used to be so thick that I would ask the stylist to thin my hair a little more after they thought they were done. As many men know, when we start to notice our hair thinning, our confidence can be shot. Don't let it get you down! And don't just settle for $8 haircuts thinking "why bother." Going the cheap route because you think there is no hope is the worst thing you can do. You end up looking worse and getting stuck in a trap of "this is as good as it gets" There are ways of cutting thinning hair that can diminish the impact of the thinning area. I like to say it's really all smoke and mirrors really. Generally thinning hair cuts usually entails going shorter. That used to freak me out but after taking the plunge, I feel much more confident. The top can stay longer, as long as it doesn't look like a comb over. When it's obvious you're trying to cover up a bald spot with long wispy hair, it just looks bad. There are also many products such as Caboki, Toppik, and Eclipse that can cover the thinning area flawlessly without anyone knowing the half of it. Blowdrying and certain styling products can also help. I can work with you and will show you how to make your thinning hair look great and build your confidence by looking your best. Always spread the product with your hands first. Seems simple right? There's nothing worse than putting product in your hair and seeing a glob of product in the front. Then you have to try to spread it in the hair hoping for the best, or just end up washing it out and starting over. Ain't nobody got time for that. If you're using good products, less is usually more. Remember It's easier to add more product in, than it is to have to wash it out.
This is very cool! What year do you wanna be? Is it me or was 2015 the most amazing year for transformation? I am definitely not the same person I was when 2015 started. Inside and outside. I've faced a lot of demons in 2015, personal and perhaps human too... guess it depends on who you ask. I grew a beard and it even changed color miraculously! You know, As the year went on and I saw myself in the mirror everyday, I started getting bored of my look. I wanted something new so I figured I can't grow hair on my head so might as well grow out my beard. It's amazing how you can feel about yourself after you make a change. Especially when it's one that may not be in your comfort zone. When you look in the mirror, all new and fresh, I don't know about you but I tend to smile and I may even give myself a wink or a kiss. (If no one's looking of course) Look, I know happiness and joy is an inside job, but when you feel good on the outside, your insides perk up just enough to make a difference that could have a snowball effect. I like to think of it as an Upgrade. If you want an upgrade for the new year, but don't know where to start. Just do a google search for: trends, mens haircuts, womens haircolor ideas, men's color, men's trends.... you get the idea! and bring pictures!!! Stylists love pictures! It's a great way to help relay what you are looking for and makes both parties more confident in the change. Here's a little help to get you started. Men you can start here and Women here a good spot. Hairspray is your friend. Long gone are the days of Aqua Net. Hairsprays come in all different types now. If you want to avoid mediocore hold, flakes and hair spray that dries out your hair, don't go for the cheap stuff! Invest in a good hairspray, your hair and friends will thank you! Now you have Volumizing, Flexible hold, Strong hold, and what I like to call helmet head. (Really Really Strong hairspray.) Shelby was right... it is a brown football helmet! Best line ever. The different types of hairspray is pretty self explanatory. But, just incase you wanted to make sure you were using the correct hairspray then here's a bulleted list to calm your nerves.
1) Always spread the product with your hands first. Seems simple right? There's nothing worse than putting product in your hair and seeing a glob of product in the front. Then you have to try to spread it in the hair hoping for the best, or just end up washing it out and starting over. Ain't nobody got time for that.
2) If you're using good products, less is usually more. Remember It's easier to put more product in, than it is to have to wash it out. (See tip 1) 3) The dryer the hair the stronger the hold. This is for molding pastes, waxes and finishing products. If you want extra hold, Blowdry your hair into the position you want it and then hit it with your styling product you spread out in your hands. (Again see tip 1) 4) All heat protectants are meant to be put in towel dried hair. Again simple right? It's also a good idea to spread the product throughout your hair either with a brush or comb. You want to get an even saturation so you have a consistent result. Nothing worse than having sleek roots with frizzy ends... yuk. Are you a man and not sure what kind of look would fit your face shape? Here's a great chart I found here that gives great examples.
It's great to have a holiday where we express our love and caring for another. Maybe we went to dinner with our loved ones, bought them flowers, candy, maybe a little teddy bear. Now that Valentines day is over, while I was riding my bike around San Diego, I thought... We spend so much time and money on our loved ones, but how much time do we spend on loving ourselves on a day to day basis?
How much time do we take in our hectic lives to pamper ourselves? Do we hit snooze 6 or 7 more times just to get that interrupted, restless sleep for 20 more minutes? ( I know I do) Then we roll out of bed with 20 minuets less time to get ready thanks to the snooze button. Because of that we shower quickly, (if at all) towel dry our hair, run our fingers to through it and go? Or Maybe you feel like: "Well I don't really know how to style my hair good so why bother."? Well I don't know about you but I could use to give myself an extra 5 minuets in the morning for a little pampering. When I do something simple for myself, like moisturize my skin, maybe take that extra time to blowdry my hair. (I know I don't have hair but work with me here) I feel better about myself because I gave myself some love. Moisturizing everyday really makes a huge diffrence in your skin. Also Guys see their girlfriends blowdrying their hair and think that takes way too long. But the fact of the matter is, for the most part, it takes no more than 5 minuets to blowdry short hair. It can make a big diffrence in getting your hair to do what you want and looking amazing as apposed to just ok. Blowdrying works like this, when your hair is wet, there are hydrogen bonds that are broken in the hair. Then when the hair dries, those bonds reform in whatever position the hair dries in. Thats why if you goto bed with wet hair, you wake up with serious bed head. Its the position your hair dried in on the pillow. Hence why it's usually sticking up all over the place. So if you blowdry your hair up in the front, it will stay up easier than using product alone. It takes all of 5 minutes to dry. Also you get much more hold with product on dry hair and it keeps more of a natural look. Not a greasy or crunchy look from the 90s. Schwarzkopf has amazing products for both men and women. I exclusivly use Schwarzkopf for color, styling, etc because the result is always beautiful. So give yourself a little more love in the mornings by taking at least 5 extra minuets to make yourself look more beautiful on the outside, to feel even better on the inside. If you want styling tips, don't hessitate to ask me or your stylist, We're here to help! Ok, so the right tools can make all the difference. By tools I mean like a comb or brush. Now depending on if you want volume, or less volume will depend on how much space between bristles you have. If you use the wide tooth part of the comb, or a vent brush with a lot of space between the bristles then that will create volume. If you use the fine tooth side of the comb, or a round brush with a lot of bristles, or a boar bristle brush, you will get a more polished sleek look. Now you can still create volume with a round brush if it has many bristles. That all depends on how much you overdirect the hair from where it lays. If your hair lays back on top of your head, you would blowdry all the hair forward. These are just some basic all around good tips to help you look as fabulous at home, as you do when leaving the salon... Well lets hope you're looking fabulous when you leave the salon! Do you ever leave the salon looking amazing, only to find you can't achieve the same result at home? Did you maybe pass on the suggested products that your stylist recommended to you, thinking what you have at home will work fine? Kind of frustrating huh? Well I'm here to tell you that I want you to look as good as you do when you leave the salon everyday. After all, you're my walking billboard! No matter what type of hair type or style you have there are so many great products from Schwarzkopf that can help you achieve the professional look you want. The important thing to know, is when and how to use them. Your stylist has all of the information, and hopefully you found a stylist that will listen to what your desire outcome is, and give you the necessary tools, as well as products, you need to achieve just that. Heat styling can be brutal on the hair everyday without the proper protection. If you use heat styling on your hair whether it be blowdryer, flat iron or curling iron, you should ALWAYS use a product to protect your hair. Some of my favorites are Flatliner and Soft n Straight. Now for you curly girls or guys out there, you definitely want to be using a good product to control your mane! And if you have curly hair, you know what I'm talking about. I've used a lot of curly hair products out there on my clients, but that always seem to be too heavy and make the hair feel dirty and greasy and dull. Schwarzkopf has amazing products that leave the hair soft, frizz free and in control without the heavy residue. My favorite products are Twin Curl and Soft Loop. You can even mix them and use a diffuser to dry the hair without touching it, and you get flawless, soft curly hair. Who out there loves the messy look but feels like it's more bed head than fashionable? Well here again is where the right product comes in handy. Osis+ Dust It is your new best friend. Whether you are a woman that wants to add volume to the crown and/or texture to your hair, or a guy who wants that matte textured look, Dust It is your one stop shop. Also Flex wax is also amazing for that messy look. You can also use it for many other hairstyles. The best thing about flex wax is that you can adjust your hair throughout the day without the fear of having a puff ball of hair on your head. It stays moldable with an amazing hold. I have to say I think I saved the best for last. Mess Up is absolutely my goto favorite product right now for the trends of 2015. It is a matte paste that works with so many different hair styles and textures. It's a great product for thin hair, as well as a great product for thick hair. It leaves the hair looking polished, and professional without the look of having product in the hair. There are so many more great products from The OSIS+ line and I highly recommend speaking with your stylist about them. Or you can leave a comment in the section below and ask me any question you would like. Come back for more... not sure what.. that's what makes it so much fun! |
